However, further research in the area of mental illness also stresses the need for therapists and clinicians during the treatment of the disorder to take into consideration the stresses of the family members, medical ethical and legal issues in the treatment of mental illness, as well as race, age, gender, socio-economic and cultural issues which may also play a large role in the treatment of a patient with bipolar disorder and the general mental health of the society.
