To What Degree Can Claudius Be Held Responsible For All Sorrows Of The Play?
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Claudius' observation that sorrows come in battalions speaks to the nature of overwhelming death throughout the play. With the ultimate demise of Polonius, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, Ophelia, Laertes, Gertrude, Hamlet and even himself, one must look back upon the play and come to the uncompromising determination that Claudius, by virtue of the inflated opinion he has of himself and his abilities, was wholly responsible for much of those sorrows. Hamlet, in an attempt to stop any further sorrows, takes it upon himself to lay claim to a particularly pertinent death when he takes the unfavorable life of Claudius, yet that does not completely absolve him of any other sorrows. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Villainy in Shakespeare's "Hamlet" and "Othello"
[ send me this paper ]
A seven page paper looking at these two works by William Shakespeare in terms of the depth of evil in their villains, Claudius and Iago. The paper notes that the best and most effective villains are those who are not completely black, but who contain shades of gray; the most effective evil does not come from the villain alone, but from the personality clashes engendered by the conflict in which the villain and hero find themselves engaged. Why Did Hamlet Wait To Kill Claudius?
[ send me this paper ]
A 9 page paper analyzing Hamlet's delay in killing his uncle in Shakespeare's classic play. The paper argues persuasively that Hamlet was simply too sensitive for such a task, and his passion for play-acting (shown repeatedly throughout the play) created a buffer between himself and the task he had to do. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
