6 pages. A critical analysis of the African American
plight in the early twentieth century shows us of the duality of
consciousness in which these people strove to make as one. While

Educational Achievement in Britain According to Ethnicity, Gender and Social Class
[ send me this paper ]
A 12 page paper discussing gaps in educational achievement in Britain from a sociological perspective. Researchers appear to be identifying concepts that should be important in arriving at resolution, even though it appears that they have not yet found workable solutions that fit all situations. It has been known for years that more highly educated parents typically are more involved in their children’s education and encourage them to achieve. The stereotype of Asian commitment to education appears to be supported by achievement rates in Asian populations. Researching these groups to learn their “secrets” that could be applied to other groups appears to be a reasonable approach to bridging social, gender and ethnicity gaps in educational achievement. Bibliography lists 9 sources.

Elements of Satire and Irony in Luis Valdez’ “Los Vendidos”
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 6 page paper discussing elements of satire and irony in “Los Vendidos” by Luis Valdez. The play “Los Vendidos” by Luis Valdez uses a great many elements of satire and irony to show the stereotypes of Mexican Americans which have been created and are expected within American society. The play includes a Mexican American, Ms. Jimenez, who has denied her heritage and pretends she is ignorant to the Chicano ways while at the same time is unable to escape her own culture. In addition to the development of satire to expose Ms. Jimenez, Valdez also employs satire and irony to show how the government needs the support of the Mexican Americans but does not return that support and how the Mexican Americans themselves are able to play stereotypes for Americans in an attempt to obtain what they want.
